Apple High-End Phones To Be Manufactured In Chennai:- Chennai's Foxconn Technologies will be assembling high-end Apple mobile phones early next year. The Taiwanese manufacturer will assemble iPhone X in Chennai's Sriperumbudur facility. Foxconn is said to have invested Rs 25 billion to expand its plant. This also provides 25,000 jobs. As of now, Wistron makes lower end Apple phones like iPhone 6S and SE in Bengaluru. This is the first time a high-end Apple phone will be manufactured in India. An announcement about this has been recently made.

Tamil Nadu Cabinet meeting was held recently after which they announced the big news. More details are expected during the Global Investors Meet that will take place in January 2019. Foxconn plant was shut in 2015 after Nokia shut down. There have tax disputes after the shut down and they are said to be resolved during April 2018. Foxconn's Sri City located near AP border is currently manufacturing Xiaomi, Noika and Gionee handsets.
