Indian Smartphone Market Grew by 12 percent in 2021:- As per the market research firm Canalys, the Indian smartphone market grew by 12 percent in the year 2021 when compared to 2020. The Indian smartphone market gained growth after the second wave of pandemic last year and registered 162 million shipments for the year. This resulted in a 12 percent increase in the market. The third quarter was the best season of the year. Chinese maker Xiaomi continued to be on the top among the most sold smartphones in India. The Chinese smartphone maker shipped 9.3 million units and it holds 21 percent of the market share in the country. Samsung stands second with a sale of 8.5 million units and it holds 19 percent of the market share.

Vivo and Oppo shipped 5.6 and 4.9 million units each last year. Realme made it to the top three for the first time by shipping 7.6 million units and it holds 17 percent of the market share. With the arrival of pandemic, several people shifted to smartphones and the internet usage too increased rapidly. Most of the smartphones are sold through Amazon and Flipkart. The report also said that the people have been quite keen to purchase smartphones that are made on a budget and there are a less percentage of people who preferred premium smartphones.
