Facebook steps out with a new plan to restrict fake news:- It has been a real challenge for the social media platforms to restrict people from spreading fake news. Several countries have been imposing curbs and restrictions against these giants and some of them are even banned in selected countries. Facebook promised to take stringent actions against the users who are spreading misinformation and fake information. Facebook decided to impose penalties on the criminals who are involved in spreading fake news through the fake accounts. With lot of fake news reported about the ongoing coronavius, Facebook decided to take strong action against the fake accounts and all those who are responsible for the acts.
"Whether it's false or misleading content about COVID-19 and vaccines, climate change, elections, or other topics, we're making sure fewer people see misinformation on our apps. Starting today, we will reduce the distribution of all posts in News Feed from an individual's Facebook account if they repeatedly share content that has been rated by one of our fact-checking partners" told Facebook in a statement. All those who have a history of sharing misinformation will get a minimal reach of their new posts even for those that is posted on the feed. A new enhancement alert tool is planned to be launched by Facebook which will be used as a fact-checking partner. This helps the users to identify the reliable information.
