Andhrawishesh.com shares the moment of grief of the highly popular south Indian playback singer KS Chitra, who is aggrieved by the death of her 9-year old daughter Nandana in Dubai two days ago.
Chitra retuned to Chennai along with her husband Vijayashankar and with the dead body of Nandana Friday morning. The family conducted the final rites in the evening. The girl, born to the couple after 15 years of marriage, drowned in a swimming pool in Dubai, according to Chitra's manager Krishna Kutty Menon.
Nadana, a differently-abled child, fell into the swimming pool while she was playing around and unfortunately no one was there to come to her rescue. Chitra found her body in the pool later on. Chitra was in Dubai along with her family to perform for A R Rahman’s music show and was staying in a posh villa belonging to their family friend.
Music lovers, several singers including S P Balasubramaniam, P Susheela, Janaki, Mano, friends and well wishers turned up at her house in large numbers and expressed their sympathies to the bereaved family.
Being a staunch devotee of Lord Krishna, Chithra had named the girl after she got an award from the Kerala government for her song in the Malayalam movie “Nandanam”.
“We are aghast on hearing the news. Chitra is a very humble person and she never behaved big even after winning several awards and appreciation. It should not have happened to her,” a visitor to the family said.
