‘Mahanati Savitri’ national award, initiated by the Darsaka Ratna Dasari Narayana Rao, will be awarded to the yesteryears heroine Jamuna for the year 2010. Dasari gives away this award every year on his birth day on April 4 to an eminent film personality. A cash prize of Rs.2 lakh and a citation will be given under this award.Director of ‘Ala Modalaindi’ Nandini Reddy was selected for the best new film director award which carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and a citation.
Dasari Birthday celebrations committee, presided over by the veteran film maker Tammareddy Bharadwaja, has announced the names of the awardees. These awards will be presented at a function to be held on April 4 at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad where Dasari birthday will be celebrated.
