So After biting achievement with Singam, which was a remake of a popular Tamil hit, Ajay Devgn has attained the remake rights of Mani Ratnam's Gharshana from VG Entertainments, which owned the rights. The film will be directed by Rohit Shetty, who directed Singam.
This is yet another addition to the long and unending list of South Indian films being borrowed by Bollywood. It is not surprising, given that recent remakes like Bodyguard have clocked exciting tallies at the box office.
There is a growing craze for the South Indian scripts with even superstars like Salman and Aamir evincing interest in these films.
However, Ajay Devgn's interest in Gharshana is something different.Unlike the aforementioned movies, this movie was released decades ago. Thus, it will be attracting to see how the writers will redesign it to make it look contemporary.
