The word that Barfi is a massive hit has been spread amongst the people like wild fire already and the positive word of mouth has helped the movie garner gargantuan collections in a short period of time, Ranbir Kapoor's Rockstar movie records were smashed with his latest starrer.

Earlier releases were all affected with the release of Barfi starring Priyanka and Ileana D Cruz. Initially the movie started out as a movie with just as much hype as the earlier movie Rockstar, though on the first day Rockstar had better collections of 10 crores against Barfi's Rs 9.2 crore falling just short, the movie had gained a lot of response from the audience within a week.

Ranbir-Priyanka-Ileana starrer movie scored Rs 34.60 crores nett at the Box Office in the first weekend. Rockstar however managed only Rs 33.75 cr.  The breakup of Barfi is Rs 9.2 cr on Fri, Rs 11.5 cr on Sat and Rs 13.9 cr on Sun. The breakup of Rockstar was Rs 10 cr on Fri, Rs 11.25 cr on Sat and Rs 12.50 cr on Sun.

After the first weekend, Rockstar ticket sales at the box office drooped by 40% while the scenario with Barfi is still going bright but lower than the opening as with most movies. Barfi collections  took a hit from the Bharath Bandh, but revived again collecting the Rs 50 crore sales in just six days. Rockstar have reached the mark in 7 days.

Heroine, the Kareena Kapoor starrer, has been a great let down and would not affect the collections of Barfi as much as expected, propelling the latter towards the 100 Cr mark.
