Dabangg lady Sonakshi Sinha will be doing a biopic for the first time in her career and she will be donning the role of eminent author and poet Amrita Pritam. This biopic will be directed by a debutante Jasmeet Reen and the shooting is expected to begin in mid 2015.
Amrita Pritam is a punjabi language author who penned over 100 books of poetry, fiction, biographies, a collection of Punjabi folk songs and an autobiography which were later translated into several Indian and foreign languages. She is also the first woman to be presented the prestigious 'Sahitya Akademi Award.' In 1969, then Indian government awarded her 'Padma Sri' and in 2004, Amrita was conferred with 'Padma Vibhushan' award the second highest civilian award.
This biopic will be an intense film. Sonakshi so far has done out and out commercial flicks and it will be interesting to see how Sonakshi performs in a serious and realistic character.
