Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt landed in fresh troubles as the Yerwada jail authorities are considering to cut his furlough period for failing to appear in the jail as per the mentioned date. Sanjay, who had applied for 14 days furlough in December 2014, was supposed to return to Yerwada jail on January 8. He sought an extension of 14 days more on health reasons but his request was turned down. The actor returned to jail on January 10 which means two days after the scheduled date.
Additional Director General of Police [Prisons] had ordered a probe in this issue and found out that Sanjay Dutt overstayed the furlough period. According to the sources, the furlough period of prisoners will be reduced for such violation of rules and Sanjay may face similar punishment the next time he approaches for a furlough.
In Sanjay Dutt's furlough issue, Maharashtra government was criticised for being biased. With huge outrage, the government had amended the rules of furlough from 14 days to 21 days and there won't be any sort of extension hereafter.
