Popular producer and Dada Sahed Phalke awardee, Dr. Daggubati Ramanaidu breathed his last this afternoon in Hyderabad. Ramanaidu is suffering from cancer over the last few months and on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 PM, he passed away peacefully. Ramanaidu's son Venkatesh who is also a well known hero in Tollywood told media that his body will be placed for visitors tomorrow from 9 AM at Ramanaidu studios and last rituals will be performed at 3 PM.
Born on June 6, 1936 in Karamchedu, Ramanaidu first film as producer was 'Anuraagam.' However, he tasted success with NTR's 'Ramudu Bheemudu.' With ANR, he made 'Premnagar' which was a trend-setter movie and then on, Ramanaidu went to produce many successful films. He was also considered as one of the key pillars in bringing the Telugu Film industry to Hyderabad. In a span over 50 years, Ramanaidu introduced 21 directors, 6 heroes and 12 heroines to the film industry. He produced over 130 films in 13 languages and registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Not just films, Ramanaidu contested for the Lok Sabha in 1999 on behalf of Telugu Desam Party and served till 2003. He also won Best Parliamentarian award for his service too. Ramanaidu also established a charitable trust on his name and made his valuable contribution. Even though with such stature, Ramanaidu lived a simple life.
