Digital Deals: Streaming Platforms Alerted

Digital Deals: Streaming Platforms Alerted:- Tollywood producers are left in huge financial stress because of the coronavirus pandemic. The burden of interests is heaping up and the filmmakers are not sure about when the audience would return back to watch films in theatres. The overseas market too is completely disrupted and most of them are not in a mood to take a risk. It is then several producers took the digital path and sold the rights for streaming platforms. The biggest problem came here after most of the Telugu films released through the digital platforms received a mixed response.

Digital giant Amazon Prime has been constantly trolled during this pandemic time for shelling out crores of rupees and buying films that lacked interesting content. Now Amazon, Hotstar and other digital platforms changed their plans. Most of the players are not ready to quote the deals without watching the final copy. They are also demanding a detailed report about the budget and other investments made for the film.

For films with stars, the digital platforms are in plans to pay advances and are keen to share the profits depending on the number of views. For those filmmakers who are keen to close the deals for exorbitant prices, it would be difficult in the future. The digital platforms also rejected a series of films in the recent weeks. The results of recent films had a bad impact on digital giants. Amazon Prime is keeping a watch on every aspect before they initiate talks. Amazon is also interested to introduce pay per view option soon.

For filmmakers who are quite keen to close the digital deals, the road is quite tough in the coming days.
