The hopes of millions of Indians got shattered and India's decade long disappointment at the Miss Universe continued as Miss India Shilpa Singh lost out in the finals of the top beauty pageant on Wednesday.
Shilpa, the 23-year-old Bihar-born girl entered the top 16 of the Miss Universe competition which was held at Planet Hollywood casino on the Las Vegas Strip, but failed miserably to enter the top 10 slot.
Comparatively during late 90’s and early 2000 India performed stunningly well in all the major beauty pageant and produced beauty queens like Sushmita Sen, Aishwarya Rai, Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra. All these beauty queens are now reigning Bollywood movie stars.
