As Bunny was predicted as the best hero category winner, Samantha was predicted to be the best heroine, as she did some splendid job in Manam.
Her character in the film was really a great challenge. When the career is at the peak stage, there might not be any actress, who chooses to perform a middle aged married lady character. But Samantha dared to do it. In fact, the variation she exposed in between two characters, i.e., married lady and the young lady, was utmost perfect and Samantha is to be appreciated for taking up the challenge.
Due to this rocking performance, many film critics opined that, undoubtedly she would be the female lead to win the award. But to the shock, Shruthi Haasan came into the limelight and bagged the award for her performance in Race Gurram.
Samantha fans, who could not take to the heart, expressed their anger on the social networking sites posting that, there were some underground politics performed in the best actress category.
However, Shruthi gave her best in Race Gurram. Especially, the scenes where, she is reaction-less, however worrying the situations are, are found to be appreciated. So, the judgment of Filmfare might not be completely blamed.
