As Oopiri is nearing its release, as a part of the promotion of the film, the makers are now exposing some interesting things about their project.  

In the beginning, when director Vamsi Paidipally thought of making Oopiri with Nagarjuna and NTR, as Nag’s role is of a quadriplegic patient, the director was hesitant to approach Akkineni hero.

Observing this, NTR called up Nag and placed a request, “listen to the subject first & don't get angry”.
    
After NTR narrated the script, Nag refused to sign the film, as the Akkineni star felt, a song in the flashback episode was included just to please him, but it is unnecessary as per the script demand.  

Nag felt that, due to that song, the soul of the original film “The Intouchables” would be spoiled in the remake ‘Oopiri’ and so, insisted director that he is ready to sign the film, if his character is completely bound to the wheel chair, throughout the film.

Taking it as a challenge, Vamsi made necessary changes to the script and again approached Nag, who then gave his nod.   

However, NTR was replaced with Karthi, due to the former’s dates issues. The movie is scheduled for a grand release on 25th of this month.
