Tollywood Actor Nagarjuna’s sons, Akhil Akkineni and Naga Chaitanya, got engaged in short intervals, between December 2016 and January 2017 and the Telugu star could not have been happier.

However, much of that was short-lived after his younger son Akhil’s upcoming marriage to Shriya Bhupal, Hyderabad-based fashion designer and granddaughter of industrialist GVK Reddy, was reportedly called off.

The reasons behind the split of the high-profile celeb couple, was related to asset sharing, according to rumors.

Since Akkineni is a joint family and have assets in the family's name, Nagarjuna gently said a ‘no’ for assets sharing. Nagarjuna’s brother,  Akkineni Venkat and sister Naga Susheela, all three of them share the assets.

Also, rumors said, Shriya's parents were a bit curious over the assets sharing between Akhil and Naga Chaitanya who will be soon tying the knot with Samantha.

However, Nagarjuna was not eager on dividing the assets now, as his both sons are yet to settle in their career and he felt that it is too early.

The differences between both the families resulting in calling off the wedding.

Akhil (22) and Shriya (26) were engaged in a lavish private ceremony in GVK House. The couple became the talk of the town and this rich and famous family of Hyderabad were looking forward to the wedding in Italy in May this year.

Many invitees who had already booked air tickets to Italy were asked to cancel them and messages were sent out to guests to cancel their programme. Even the tickets booked by both families were canceled, sources close to both the families have said.

Around 700 guests were to fly to Rome for the destination wedding including several top industrialists, big names from the southern film industries, and some top stars from Bollywood.

“A lot of preparations were made and everything was in place. Hotels and resorts were booked,” sources said.

The couple had been dating each other for almost two years before their engagement. While Akhil has acted in a few movies, Shriya Bhupal is the official costume designer for a film magazine and has worked with Tollywood stars Kajal Agarwal and Shriya Saran besides Bollywood actresses, Shraddha Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

While the actual cause is still not known, this is just an assumption, that is widely doing the rounds.
