Republic Analysis
Republic starts off with a bang and the characterization of Panja Abhiram is well narrated on screen. The first half unfolds the discussions of the issues and about the corrupted political system. The IAS interview episode of Sai Tej will stand out in the first half. The interval reaches a real high. Ramya Krishna plays a crooked politician Vishaka Vani in the movie. The dialogues are an asset for the film and the background score elevates the right episodes well. The action episodes are well narrated and presented. On the whole, the first half of Republic ends on an impressive note.
The second half of Republic is a mixed bag as the film lacks gripping narration. Too many issues are discussed and the sub-plots are too emotional. Dev Katta excels in the dialogue part but when it comes to the narration, the film lacks a gripping screenplay. Sai Tej looks bulky but he did well in the action episodes. Republic happens on a serious note without many deviations but the film lacks entertainment. This may not appeal to all the sections of the audience. The pre-climax episodes and the climax are disappointing. On the whole, the second half falls short of the expectations though there are impressive episodes.
Performance
Sai Tej shines in the role of an honest IAS officer who is concerned about the society and the people. He plays the role of Panja Abhiram who fights against all the odds and evils in the corrupted political system. Its high time and Sai Tej has to cut down his weight and get back to shape soon. Ramya Krishna is perfect as Visakha Vani but she is underutilized. She delivered her best in the role as usual. Jagapathi Babu does his part well in a prominent role that was well penned. Aishwarya Rajesh looks good and did her role well. Rahul Ramakrishna and other actors have done their parts well.
Republic is a subject that has layers of content that discusses about the odds in the society. The film also narrates about how the corrupted politicians are spoiling the society. The screenplay isn't gripping but the dialogues are the major highlights of Republic. The music is ok and the background score is elevating. The cinematography work is on. The production values are not grand. The makers should have spent more on Republic. Dev Katta impresses the audience with his writing skills. But when it comes to direction, he falls short of the expectations.
Republic Final Word
Republic is not a gripping political thriller but it shines because of the performances of Sai Tej, Jagapathi Babu and Ramya Krishna. The second half has enough flaws.
