Haradhan Bandopadhyay, the veteran who played Daju in Barfi has breathed his last on Saturday. He was 87.
On Jan 5th the actor died at a Kolkata Hospital fighting for his life. He earned great fame with his role as the head of the asylum in the movie Barfi where he won the hearts of millions. He was earlier noted for his roles in Parnineeta, and in the greatest Indian director Satyajit Ray's Shonar Kella, Jai Baba Felunath, Mahanagar among many others.
A devastated Pryiyanka Chopra, Jhilmil in Barfi, tweeted "Woke up to the saddest news. The wonderful actor who played Jhilmil's Daju in Barfi Mr Haradhan Banerjee passed away.. RIP sir.. You blessed us."
Anuraj Basu, the director was equally shocked and tweeted, "For rest of our lives we will cherish golden moments spent with Haradhanda! At 87 He was younger than me at heart."
