The Bombay High Court commanded the police officials to prosecute Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and his designer wife Twinkle Khanna for obscenity, while acquitting Abigail Rosa, the secretary of an event management company charged with scripting the alleged act.
A case of obscenity was registered against the Bollywood couple way back in 2009 during the Lakme Fashion Week. Apparently, Akshay and Twinkle tipped off a hot controversy during a ramp walk when wife Twinkle unbuttoned his denim as a part of a gimmick.
Doling out his verdict on the case, Justice Abhay Thipsay freed Abigail Rosa, secretary of the event management firm of all charges after realizing that she was not the one who scripted the “obscene act” and ordered the police to prosecute the actor couple and director of the fashion show instead.
A complaint was lodged against the duo by a social activist with the Vakola Police Station on March 30, 2009.
Abigail had filed a petition plea asking to be absolved from the case citing she was being falsely framed. She was arrested on August 25, 2009 and let out on bail for "inciting and abetting the actor's crime of obscenity."
According to Abigail, “she was not connected with the show except for applying for a no objection certificate for the event from the police station and was discharging a purely secretarial function.” The FIR, however, named her as the organizer.
