An NRI has allegedly abandoned his wife for not giving dowry.  The incident came to light when the victim approached police station in Surat of Gujarat and filed a police complaint. Victim was aged about 44 years who married to 58-year-old Hussain, a resident of Mauritius, last Friday. The wedding took place as per the customs.

The victim, in her complaint, mentioned that her husband called her brother and demanded a dowry of 25 lakh rupees. When her brother denied that he can't give since he couldn't afford to pay so much money, Hussain allegedly showed reluctance to take his wife along with him to Mauritius.

The discussion between the duo turned into a heated argument, which eventually made Hussain lose him temper and thrash her brother, mentioned the victim in her complaint. The police took up the case and are investigating  the same.
