The Chief Justice of India, Altamas Kabir has said that NRI grooms abandoning their wives has become a serious issue. He appealed to the parents to verify the details of the grooms before giving their daughters' hands to them. Addressing a seminar recently, Justice Kabir said many people in India were getting attracted to the foreign culture and the income there due to which they were approaching foreign travel agencies and getting cheated.

The Chief Justice, while asking to the parents to be careful while getting their daughters married to NRIs, has also asked the youth not to tread illegal paths to reach foreign country. He stressed that adopting illegal methods would not just land an individual in problems but his entire family. It is known that NRI husbands abandoning wives especially for dowry have been hitting headlines time and again.
