Fashion needs to be recession-friendly

Designer Neeta Lulla presented a bridalwear-centric show, which opened with a live performance by Hema Malini as Radha.

Just after the show, when we chatted with Lulla, she told us that as the country faces recession again, it's time for designers to look at cost-cutting measures. And one of the ways to do it is through reduction in embellishment.

"Texture treatments on the clothes have become a far more practical solution. For instance, in this collection, instead of overdoing embellishment, we've taken patches of rich fabric and embroidered that on to the clothes."
