Dancing tips for the left footed

If you are one of those people who always avoid a gathering for fear of being asked to dance, it's not as hard as it looks. Don't feel so self conscious my friend, get off your behind and get on the dance floor without a single thought of embarrassment.

Do you know why children make such good dancers? They dance like no one's watching! That should be your mantra too, as there are some simple ways to get over the fear of dancing in public.

Before hitting the battlefield, try this. Make a space wide enough for you to practice a few uncomplicated steps without falling over. Stick your leg out, get back to position. Stick the other leg out, get back to position. For best example, think of Will Smith coaching an overweight Kevin James in the 2005 movie Hitch.

To dance without embarrassing yourself, wear clothes which do not make you uncomfortable. Stay cool and confident in your skin and the feeling will shine through.

Here's one brilliant tip, dance before the mirror. It allows you to find the moves that make you look good, so that you can repeat it later.

On the floor, you can go with what everyone else is doing, or better still, groove beside the person who is attracting the most attention. No one is going to look at you or judge you, as everyone is busy with their own set of moves.

More than anything have fun and look like you are having fun. Feel the enthusiasm and dance on!
