Tips and Treatment for Sunburn:- Sunburns are caused due to the extremely harsh summer temperatures due to the over-exposure to sunlight. Kerala reported more than a 100 cases of sunburn in March 2019. The Health Department of Kerala asked the people to avoid direct exposure to the sun between 11 AM and 3 PM. The skin turns reddish in colour because of the sunburn and there would be swelling to the skin. Some of the diseases like collagen vascular diseases too can cause sunburn. The World Health Organization (WHO) advised people not to spend much time in the sun as the UV rays are strong between 10 AM and 4 PM. Prefer to wear protective clothing along with hats, sunglasses and scarves. Look for an appropriate shade when you step out. Always use sunscreen with SPF 30-50 to stay away from sunburns. If you have sunburns, you can apply aloe vera on the affected places to remove the tan. Also rely on sunscreen lotions along with other prescribed creams, ointments.
