Attractions of Uttarkashi for offbeat Travellers:- Uttarkashi is fondly known as Somya Kashi or Shivnagri and is a sacred town. It is known for its adventurous spots and religious spots. It has a number of temples, villages and ashrams. Here are some of the important places to visit in Uttarkashi:

Kashi Vishwanath Temple: The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is set on the banks of the Bhagirathi river and has immense religious significance. The spectacular view of the mountains can be witnessed from the temple.

Barsu village: This is a perfect spot for travelers for peace and tranquility. It is surrounded by green mountains and forests. There are several homestays and can be booked online.

Kuteti Devi: This place is dedicated to Goddess Kuteti Devi which is a form of Goddess Durga. The temple is constructed on Hari Parvat hilltop and is constructed by the daughter of Maharaj Kota. The locals consider Kuteti Devi as the guardian goddess.

Maneri Dam: Maneri Dam is a gravity dam and is constructed on the Bhagirath river. This diverts water into a big tunnel and it also has a power station which is named Maneri Bhali Hydroelectric Project that is constructed in 1960s.

Sangam Chatti: This is a scenic place to visit and is good for photography. The place is surrounded by green valleys with small villages and green potato fields.
