Kalimpong: A Must Visit Place For A Pleasant Holiday:- Some of the fabulous regions remain underrated and one among them is Kalimpong which is located at a height of 1,247 metres above the sea level. Kalimpong is 51km from Darjeeling and 70km from Siliguri. Kalimpong offers a holiday mood and is completely pleasant. The temperatures remain between 12-16 degrees and on a sunny day, it reaches 30 degrees. The road trip from Siliguri to Kalimpong is magical through Teesta valley. Huge stuff from Bhutan, Tibet, Sikkim and Nepal are marketed in the region.
Though it is a part of Bhutan initially, it was renamed and added in India after the British acquired India. With the weather a huge plus, the number of tourists continued to grow. The population too took rise and the number of schools got increased. British schools, hospitals and other structures should be visited if you are in Kalimpong. Kalimpong is home to Nepalis, Lepchas and other ethnic groups and is now an important religious centre for Buddhism. The Tharpa Choling Monastery is located in the centre of the city.
The Kalimpong Science Centre is established in 2008. Horticulture is one of the most important money-earners in the city. There are number of nurseries in the region. The many strains of cactus are carefully cultivated in the region. Kalimpong’s annual flower show in October is a special attraction. The best season to visit Kalimpong is during spring.
