CM's efforts to solve power crisis

The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy met The Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on Gas allocation and pricing at Delhi.  He met Union Petrolium and Natural Gas Minister M.Veerappa Moily, State Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Defence Minister A.K.Antony who are heading EGoM.  He explained the acute power crisis the State is facing that can be corrected only by gas and additional coal allocation to the State. Kiran Kumar urged them to convene EGoM meeting at the earliest to take the decision.   The meeting was to take place on 7th May which did not materialize.

He explained Veerappa Moily that the power generating units that run on gas are kept idle at present which will come in to operation if the Center allocates gas to the State.   He also asked for the allocation of further coal so that NTPC power plants can generate an additional power of 500 MW.

Kiran Kumar also requested Jyotiraditya Scindia to ensure that the linking of Southern and National grid is completed who said to have assured Kiran Kumar that EGoM has already considered the allocations of gas and coal and the meeting will be convened soon in which it will be approved.

The Chief Minister utilized his time at Delhi while waiting for the audience of the High Command at least to carry some good news on his returning home.
