Agitations in Seemandhra

The Samaikyandhra Movement ignited yesterday again with the approval of state bifurcation by the Union Cabinet reached second day today. Congress, TDP and YSRCP parties not only supported but ensured that the bandh in 13 districts is successfully conducted.

1. Ananthapur:

Educational Institutions and traders voluntarily closed today supporting Samaikyandhra.  Along with it petrol pumps and Banks also are closed in Ananthapur district. As RTC employees extended their support, 980 bus services are canceled in depots in the district. 30 Police Act is in force in the district.  TDP organized a massive rally in Ananthapur town. Effigies of AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Home Minsiter Sushil Kumar Shinde were burnt at many places. The students’ attempt to take out a massive rally was stopped by the police and it caused tension in SK University.  A student fell unconscious in the scuffle was taken to hospital.

2. Visakhapatnam:

The King George Hospital in Vizag is closed excepting emergency ward as per the decision taken by the Doctors JAC.  RTC buses are restricted to depots on the second day also.  All examinations scheduled to be conducted yesterday and today are postponed till further notice.  TDP organized two wheeler rally in Vizag at Jagadamba Center.  Electricity employees rallied from EPDCL office to Gurudwara.

3. Kurnool:

Rallies are conducted in Kurnool protesting against the state bifurcation decision taken by the Government.

4. Prakasham:

Bandh is peaceful in Prakasham district on the second day.  A massive rally is organized in Chirala by Telugu Desam Party.  Educational institutions and trade houses closed in Chirala. TDP leaders sat in front of the Bus Depot and shouted slogans against State bifurcation.

5. Krishna:

TDP gave a 48 hour bandh call yesterday. TDP leaders Devineni Uma, Gadde Ramamohan, Nagul Meera and others sat on the highway sloganeering against the Government’s decision to bifurcate the state. Educational institutions and trading closed for the second day today.

6. Chittore:

Telugunadu Vidyardhi Samakhya tried to seize the residence of MP Chinta Mohan in Tirupati.  Police took the students in to custody. As TDP and YSRCP made separate agitations, the pilgrims at Tirupati faced hardships in their return journey.

7. East Godavari:

APNGO’s staged Dharna at the residence of Union Minister Pallam Raju.  Protests were staged on the boats in the river Godavari at Rajahmundry.  Exams scheduled in Kakinada were postponed.

8. West Godavari:

JAC leaders circled Minister Pitani Satyanarayana at the guest house at Eluru. There was scuffle between the police and the activists.  Tanuku MLA Karumuri Nageswara Rao’ car was damaged by the activists. As the Tanuku CI Madhu Babu reacted late to the complaint of the MLA he was issued show cause notice.

9. SriKakulam:

Activists shouted slogans against Seemandhra Minsiters, MLAs, MPs, Sonia Gandhi, Botsa Satyanarayana and KCR in Srikakulam. Telugu Desam party supporters tried to tear off the flex boards of Union Minister Killi Kruparani at Tekkali which was stopped by the police.
