Airtel, Vodafone Idea to Hike Service Rates from December:- After Reliance Jio made it to the field of telecommunication, there have been drastic changes and the users started enjoying all the features for low prices. Other biggies Airtel, Idea and Vodafone suffered huge losses and several of their users ported out to Jio. Soon, Vodafone and Idea inked a deal of merger. Now for the first time after three years, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel said that they are in plans to increase the tariffs in December so that this could help them increase the revenue as they are in huge losses. Airtel and Vodafone Idea in statements revealed that they are in huge financial stress.

From the past two years, they have been saying that higher prices and lower levies were crucial to improve the health of the sector. Jio roiled the market and triggered price war due to which Airtel and Vodafone Idea had to step down. “We understand that Trai (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) is likely to initiate a consultation for bringing rationality in pricing in the Indian mobile sector, which has been operating at prices that have been eroding the viability of the sector,” Airtel said in a statement.

Airtel will now increase the price offer from December and the new tariffs will be announced soon. Vodafone Idea said that the mobile data charges in India are now the cheapest in the world. To continue the world-class experience, the price should be increased soon said Vodafone Idea.
