Special CBI Judge O.P. Saini of Delhi today extended the judicial custody of the former telecom minister A. Raja, the main accused in the 2G Spectrum scam and three others till March 31.
Former Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura, Raja’s former personal secretary R. K. Chandolia and Swan telecom promoter Shahid Balwa are the other three accused in the scam. All of them will continue their confinement in the Tihar Jail.
The judge accepted the plea of the CBI that the accused are highly influential and may sabotage the investigations if they are released on bail. “The investigations are yet to be completed,” the CBI counsel told the court.
“All the four accused are remanded to judicial custody till March 31,” the judge said simply after accepting the CBI plea.
Mr. Raja, Behura and Mr. Chandolia were arrested by the CBI on February 2, while Mr. Balwa was arrested on February 8.
