This is the real life story of a once Bollywood actor Raj Kiran who made a memorable mark with his films like Karz, Kaagaz Ki Nao, Ghar Ho To Aisa, Arth and several other block busters and stole the hearts of millions of fans but is now in a mental asylum in Atlanta of the US after being abandoned by his family members.

Yes, you may not be willing to believe that such a great actor, who worked with top heroes like Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty and Shekhar Kapur and paired with top heroines like Shabana Azmi,  Meenakshi Sheshadri and Deepti Naval and acted under top directors like Mahesh Bhutt and Subhash Ghai, would find his way into a mental asylum.

Like you and me, his colleagues like Rishi Kapoor also did not believe it but he was the person who found out his whereabouts now. Rishi Kapoor has been trying to locate him for almost a decade and at last found out his details recently.

Rishi told a national daily that he and his good friend Raj Kiran acted together in several movies in the 1970s and 1980s but he went missing for more than a decade and has been trying hard to find out his whereabouts. “Some said he was dead but how could it be without our knowledge?” he told the daily. “I simply did not believe that story,” the actor told the daily.

Determined to locate him, the once top hero met the missing actors’ brothers and sisters by great difficulty and came to know that Raj Kiran was being confined to a mental asylum in Atlanta. “He was working there and making payments for his treatment,” said Rishi Kapoor.

Rishi felt very bad on hearing that the great actor was abandoned not only by his brothers but also by his wife and children. He told the daily that he was determined to bring him back to India. “By God’s grace, he is alive. Now, I am determined  to bring him back to India and see that he gets back his health and film career,” an emotional Rishi Kapoor told the paper.

Deepti Naval also in search of Raj Kiran

Yesteryears’ top heroine Deepti Naval announced on Face Book a month ago that she was also trying to locate her good friend Raj Kiran. “Looking for a friend from the film world, his name is Raj Kiran. We have no news of him, last heard he was driving a cab in NY city if anyone has any clue, please tell .

After the national daily broke the story and said that the great actor Raj Kiran was in a mental asylum, the hearts of his several actor-colleagues are pouring out for him. They are sending messages enquiring about his welfare and said they are eagerly waiting to see him in some good health, both physically and mentally.
