Jaya now seeks PC’s head

Jaya now seeks PC’s headTamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha today demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram saying he was not elected to the Parliament in 2009.

Addressing her first national media conference in Delhi after taking over as the Chief Minister of the state, Jaya said Chidambaram committed a fraud on the nation and he was declared elected because of a fraud committed by a data entry operator.

“His continuation in the Union Cabinet is untenable and he must be dropped by the Prime Minister,” suggested Jaya.

Jaya also demanded the resignation of the Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran for his involvement in the 2G Spectrum scam. “If he doesn’t
resign, the PM must drop him,” she said.

When asked her offer of extending support to the UPA government would still stand in case DMK withdraws support to it, the chief minister said the offer was made in a different circumstance. “The situation has changed now,” she said.

Jaya said it was not good for her to meet congress president Sonia Gandhi now as the Congress-DMK alliance was still on.

Earlier, she met the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and submitted a memorandum containing various demands of Tamil Nadu state. Jaya sought an additional power supply of 1000 MW from the central grid.

She also discussed the Sri Lankan issue and the fishermen’s problems with the PM and offered to send MLAs’ delegation to Sri Lanka to asses the living standards of Tamils there.
