The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at Mumbai was put on a high alert since Thursday night following the threat of a terrorist attack.
Security agencies responsible for the airport security were asked to take all precautions for the safety of the airport, its premises and passengers in view of a possible security threat. Reports said that central intelligence agencies have warned of an attack by terrorists who may cause explosions using the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
After the alert, security agencies have begun subjecting the passengers to physical checks in addition to imposing restrictions on vehicles parking and halting around the airport. Random security checks are also being conducted at all places in Mumbai.
