Smishing Scam: Government Warns Citizens:- Smishing scam, a portmanteau of SMS and Phishing worries the public. The Indian government has issued a warning against this new scam. The Smishing scam will make you reveal your confidential information through SMS. As the number of mobile users is rising day by day, a new scam is emerging as a significant threat to users and can turn violent to any extent.
These scammers generally come out with communication from trusted sources like government agencies, banks and or some well-known brands. Usually, they call up like an urgent call asking for important information like card numbers, social security details, login credentials and even OTP.
The government has issued a helpline number and released a URL to directly complain about such types of scam issues.
