Threat to Jaya, Modi, Kerala temples

terroictGuruvayoor police received a letter today written reportedly by unidentified Al Qaeda terrorist operatives from Chennai threatening to assassinate the Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Chief Ministers Jayalalitha and Narendra Modi and blow up the now world-famous Sree Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram and the most popular Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor in the coming days.

The letter, written in English, was addressed to the circle inspector of police at Guruvayoor and posted in Chennai.

Immediately after receiving the letter, special bomb squads rushed to the famed Sree Krishna Temple and checked for any explosives placed there. But police found no bombs or explosives to their relief.

The Guruvayoor police also alerted the management of the Sree Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram about the threat letter following which security was beefed up in and around the temple.

Sree Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram has now become world famous with the discovery of the gold treasure in its underground secret chambers. It might be mentioned that the Kerala government has already appointed a SP level officer to oversee the security arrangements at the temple and protect its new found wealth estimated over Rs. 5 lakh Cr.temple

More than 30 SPG trained personnel are guarding the temple round the clock and each and every devotee is being frisked by the security forces.
