Former TN minister Ponmudi arrested

PonmudiPolice today arrested senior DMK leader and former higher education minister Mr K. Ponmudi in a land grabbing case.

He was picked up by police from his hometown Villupuram. Pondumi is the fourth former minister to have been arrested by the police in land grabbing cases. Earlier, police had arrested three former ministers Veerapandi S. Arumugam (Salem), K.N. Nehru (Tiruchirappalli) and N.K.K.P. Raja (Erode) under land grabbing allegations.

After the Tamil Nadu government has launched its crackdown on land grabbers, police have also arrested several senior leaders of the DMK, apart from the former ministers.

AIADMK government has returned over Rs. 400 Cr worth land to its rightful owners after it came to power, according to Chief Minister Jayalalitha.
