Can Sriramulu’s `Victory’ be related to Jagan’s `gain’

Former Minister and a close associate of jailed mining baron and former minister Janardhana Reddy, B Sriramulu has won the by-election for Bellary Rural Constituency (ST) on Sunday, with a huge margin of over 46,790 votes, in Karnataka. The triangular fight ensued between Congress candidate B Ramprasad, who had lost to Sriramulu in the 2008 Assembly election, garnered 27,737 votes, P Gadlingappa of BJP, who was contesting for the first time, was relegated to the third position and even lost his deposit with only 17,366 votes. The minister had earlier to fight back the BJP and he has stuck to his word.

As per Newton, the famous physicist `The action at Karnataka had its reaction in Andhra Pradesh.’ There seems to be a lot of turbulence in the YSR Congress Party in Andhra Pradesh. The discussion of the Party leader Y Jagan Mohan Reddy with his members, in the wake of no-confidence motion to be set in action today at the AP assembly was imminent. But Jagan convened the meeting on Sunday morning, only 12 loyalist MLAs attended it and after the Bellary bypoll result was out, the number swelled to 19. It may be noted , at Saturday's meeting with Jagan, 22 loyalist MLAs were present.

Sources said the Jagan loyalist MLAs have a reason now to think that corruption would not be a major issue in the elections if they are disqualified for voting against the government and forced to contest in the bypolls. Well as per the statistics since independence this has been true as the voter is left with not much of a choice.
