CPIL petition comes up for hearing and the Apex Court takes a serious note on CBI and ED, issues notices to submit report.
The investigations on the former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran seems to be moving at a slow pace in the 2G case. The intentions were further consolidated with the Apex court issuing notices to the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate, on Thursday. This was in response to the petition filed by the Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL), an NGO. The court ordered the agencies to file a detailed report within ten working days, in this regards.
Justice G N Sanghvi and Justice A K Ganguly issued the notice after having a detailed hearing from the council of the NGO, Prashanth Bhushan. Mr. Bhushan said that the other than the FIR filed on Maran on October 09 last year, nothing has moved forward. He further said the investigating agency was also slow, on ESSAR and Loop. The petition also said that in spite of profound evidence on the involvement of these companies, in the country’s biggest scam, CBI was taking a soft stand. This could be due to the Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid. While reliance and Swan were charge sheeted, ESSAR and Loop were untouched. The Apex court, after the hearing, issued the notices and posted the hearing to January 20.
