A diamond trader in Mumbai found his valuables missing and some cash along with his costly Rolex watch in November last year and was worried. And the only members in his house were his wife and two daughters, along with his nephew. He launched a complaint with the police station after some serious thinking. The police questioned the servants and then took on the nephew but to their dismay found no evidence and all of them proved to be innocent.
The investigation was in the mid of a cross road, they needed to move further, but all of the members were his own family members. Incidentally the police wanted to investigate the eldest daughter (17yr) first, as she was always active on her Black Berry Messenger (BBM). The trader under the advice of the police laid a trap, late last week, by placing Rs.25,000 in the shelf as the girl was watching and went for a wash. The girl slowly tried to retrieve the money when she was caught red-handed.
On interrogation, she revealed that she met Gopal Rajan Bhasin (21) through BBM and chatted for some time before they transformed into lovers. Incidentally Gopal had told her that his profession was to fix cricket matches, and in the process incurred heavy losses. The girl wanted to help her guy rebuild his financial situation. So she used to steal from home and remit the money into Gopal’s account or the con man used to fly down from Delhi to collect the amount.
Now the police laid the second trap to arrest the con man and asked the girl to call him up to collect the money. Gopal came to the appointed place and was arrested by the police. He has been booked under Sections 420 (cheating) and 506 (intimidation) of the IPC. Police are now trying to find out whether Gopal had repeated such a tale with others too!!
