Mumbai: 200 hospitalised after colour poisoning

On Thursday March 8 in Mumbai almost 200 people and particularly children who suffered from a allergic chemical reaction to the colours while celebrating Holi, As many of them were hospitalised in Dharavi area.

One of the duty medical officer from Sion Hospital said, till now 176 children have been admitted to the hospital with the complaints of skin allergy, burning of eyes, giddiness and vomiting.

As the incident took place on Thursday March 8 afternoon at the time of Holi celebrations which were in full swing.

Several people developed allergic reaction to the colours and were rushed to the Lokmanya Tilak municipal general hospital at Sion.

“The affected persons complained of giddiness and vomiting,” a hospital official said.

Some cases were serious on admission but are now stable after treatment, he added.

Officials also added that they have got calls from a few adults also with similar complaints.

A police official said they are investigating the matter to discover the source of the Holi colours.
