Hacking attacks are becoming global threat and especially people are worried over the hacking of social networking sites.
In a similar incident, as many as 540 Twitter accounts were hacked within 48 hours across the globe. The antivirus and firewall major, Kaspersky has said it in the latest report. The report states that the spam attack took place on April 19 and it has immediately informed the Twitter security team.
Spammers allegedly gained access to 540 accounts and were posting tweets to the users. The spammers advertised on an Antivirus product by giving some links. On clicking these hyper-links, users would be redirected to some phishing website that states the user’s computer has so many viruses and asks them to purchase their product.
Kaspersky Lab team member, Nicolas has said that contacting hundreds of Tiwtter users was not an easy task and said the attack was clearly visible and users presumably came to know that someone had hacked their accounts.
Hacking is a crime in several places including India and people still think it as a misdemeanor. Once a hacker gets severe punishment such as lifer, then only people will fear hacking and that would eventually reduce cyber crimes. (Phani)
