To drink or not to drink is left to the discretion of the individuals. It has now become evident that the women in higher designations drink twice as much as the normal. This was revealed by the UK's official statistics making the drink `a compulsion for company’s sake’. The elite circle indication also goes on to prove that cocktail driven business card culture is on the raise, even among women.
As per the National Statistics in the UK women at senior levels drink atleast a bottle of wine a week on average, around 11.2 units when compared to the women who are on menial jobs like female hair dressers, cleaners and factory workers, who are estimated to consume just 6.2. The trends quite significantly shows that `the cultural advancements and work stress’ is also increasing among women like their male counterparts.
However UK's Shadow Health Minister Diane Abbott expressed concerns over the stats, ` It's good that more women are out in the workforce and are enjoying social life in pubs and bars. But these disturbingly high figures reveal women's drinking patterns have changed in a generation, reflecting a silent, middle class epidemic," as quoted in the Daily Telegraph.
