The mega air show, which takes place once in every two years, at Indian Air Force Base (IAF) in Bangalore is likely to be shifted out of Karnataka. Hearing the moves being made to shift the mega show in the sky, the Karnataka Government wrote to the defence ministry opposing the idea. In his letter to defence minister AK Antony, Karnataka chief minister Sadananda Gowda said he came to know about the proposal to shift the air show as Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) took up the issue of air space management and approached the ministry of civil aviation, which in turn asked minister of defence to shift the airshow to somewhere where there's enough air space.
To make a point, Sadananda Gowda said Bangalore airport was shut for more than five hours earlier for renovation and passengers reportedly expressed no inconvenience then. Therefore, Gowda wanted air show to take place in the same area. It is known that air show at IAF base drags people from all across south India to witness the wonders in the sky unveiled by the expert pilots.
