Mumbaikars had a bad time on Friday following the motormen strike but the influence of the strike on Krishna Kumar, a 20 year old lad suffering from polio had been the worst. The physically challenged man was challenged further with the 12 KM walk he had to take to Churchgate as the train Halted in Mumbai Central.
Staying at Cuffe Parade chawl, he had to get his crutches from The Fellowship of the Physically Handicapped which is at Haji Ali. He while returning had to get off the train as it halted at Mumbai Central.
He took a taxi on the way back home but he was dropped off due to a traffic jam. Also, Kumar had not enough money to go back home in another taxi. He was forced to take a train at Mahalaxmi and this train had stopped at Mumbai Central for 30 minutes. There was a local that blocked the path of the local train, Amit Sahni, Kumar's nephew said.
Kumar and Sahni decided to go back by foot covering the 12 KM distance by the tracks to Churchgate. Sahni expressed his sadness by saying that the motormen should read his uncle's story and call off the strike.
