Indian Scientist discovers the technology to clean car emissions

To date we have always thought of only controlling the emissions of the car but have it ever struck you that you could clean the emissions of your car? One Indian scientist had made this idea a reality by patenting a technology that would convert the harmful CO2 from the vehicles to pure oxygen while also generating fuel that could be used in car.

Dinabandhu Sahoo had come to Delhi over 30 years ago with the dream of being an IAS officer. He has put that dream aside but has settled for nothing less. He had become a botanist working with Algae, the kind of life form resembling plants and found in the ponds. It is commonly referred to as pond scum.

He has identified that 1kg of the algae have the extreme capacity to convert over 1.8kg of Carbon Dioxide to 1.6 Kg of Oxygen. Merely using the same basic principle he had decided to use it practically.  He poured the algae into a  tank like container and attached the tail pipe to this container pumping the CO2 into it.

Algae are small plant like organisms feeding on the sunlight and utilizing carbon dioxide while releasing pure oxygen as the by-product. Dr Sahoo had made a prototype with $500 and attached to his car to test it.

He had also said that this monstrous bin on the top of the car is not an attractive design and though he has made a few other aerodynamic designs he had requested for help from other automobile makers.

The benefit from this prototype is that the algae are also capable of producing oil that could be converted to fuel for cars. Each kilo of algae overtime produces over 300ml of oil. This conversion to fuel is also viable across the glove according to researches.

Sahoo said that he is positive that he would find many takers once he has finished his technology. He said that the technology has worked pretty well and needs to be improved analogizing with the cellphones of the old days. He said “ The first cell phone was bulky. But look how money and R&D have made them indispensable to us today".
