Flames burst out in the top most floor and the food court of the Oberoi Mall in the northwest Mumbai on Wednesday but fortunately there were no casualities reported.
Initial investigations reveal that the fire could have been caused by electrical short circuiting.
Six water tankers and and five fire engines had rushed to the location of the accident immediately according to a source from the disaster management department.
Oberoi Mall is one of the biggest malls in the western suburban Mumbai. The fire accident had casued numerous people to panic. Shop owners and mall authorities immediately evacuated the mall.
