130 IEDs unearthed in Jharkhand

A major crisis has been averted after the CRPF and the local police force have ingeniously unearthed at least 130 IEDs that were place along the road which would be take by the CRPF for patrolling by the CRPF. The site for the IEDs was chosen very carefully between a dam on one side and hills on another flank.

But for the intelligence of the police and the CRPF, the disaster could have had the magnitude of the Chintalnar massacre recreating the event in April 2010.

The forces also did not use the road for patrolling as they took to the hills trekking their way through them.

In Jharkhand's Saraikela Kharswan district, the force had planned to patrol on Palna-Mahadevbera Road under Chouka police station which is flanked by hills on one side and a damn on the other.

The patrolling force had guessed that the Maoists wouldn't miss such an opportunity. They probably planned to gun down all the trapped forces after the IEDs blasted.

Four detonators, 900m of Codex wire and 350m of electric wire were seized from the spot.

In April 2010, Chattisgarh a tragic even with the same modus operandi had claimed the lives of 75 CRPF men in Dantewada. Maoists laid a trap to kill the Batallion 62 of the CRPF who were over 80 in number patrolling the area which is covered by hill on three sides. They once the police forces had trapped in the place, the Maoists showered bullets which. Only 7 people survived after all of the jawans had put up a valiant fight.
