A driver who was declared brain dead by the doctors was supposed to donate his kidney and liver to the ailing Union Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh who was surviving on life support at a hospital in Chennai. The 31 year old driver had passed away even before the transplant today in the early hours at 2.45 am.
The Government General hospital quoted that the reason was a cardiac arrest. His family had earlier agreed for an organ donation but later today they have refused the same after the police arrived at the hospital. An ambulance from the Global hospitals had also arrived at the casualty ward of the hospital to take the deceased for the organ transplant.
The driver’s accident was a medico-legal case and that had caused the delay in the procedures at the hospital, the doctors said speaking of the accident of the driver who was hit by an ambulance while he was driving his bike on the East Coast Road on Saturday.
It was on the same day that the 67 year old Union Minister’s case was marked as a super ultra emergency case.
