The state in not safe yet for the girls and women to walk down the streets even today as they are being teased, assaulted and verbally or sexually abused while they do their daily chores. The complaints of such incidents have become increasingly common but there is no proper action by the government on the accused and the miscreants resorting to such lowly acts.

Only yesterday on Monday, another girl was allegedly teased and even beaten up by five youths in the North 24 Parganas. The police said that the incident took place at the Kajipara area of the headquarter town.

The father of the victim lodged an FIR with the police against the youngsters saying that his daughter was teased and even assaulted by them. He also alleged that they made lewd remarks while she was walking to a store at Sikipara.

The innocent girl protested but it only aggravated the scene as they pulled her to a place while beating her badly. However, the locals had rescued the girl at this point protecting her from further abuse.

But the five youngsters had managed to escape after they noticed the local people.

She was admitted to Barasat hospital and the police are in the search of the accused to arrest them. This event follows the recent incident on July 27 when a girl was teased by a youngster at the Barasat Railway station but was rescued immediately by the people on the plat form who taught the miscreant  a lesson.
