North-East Students strike tomorrow

North East Students' Organisation (NESO) have called for a strike for a duration of 12 hours against the illegal migration of the laborers and other people into the region from other states.

"The Manipur government should take effective steps against entry of illegal migrant labourers and restrict the entry of people from other states as the population of Manipuris is 'microscopic'," the spokesperson from the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU)said. AMSU is a constituent of the NESO.

They have appealed to the people to participate and support the strike by participating in the mass rally to garner attention from the people. He also mentioned that the rally would be organized at Guwahati during the general strike.

AMSU representatives and  their counterparts from several other organizations would take part in the rally.

The AMSU has also submitted a memorandum to the Manipur government to send an official representative to participate in the rally at Guwahati.
Police posts in Manipur were alerted today ahead of tomorrow's strike, according to several sources.
