Dr Khemka was Haryana's Director-General of Land Consolidation and Land Records-cum-Inspector-General of Registration until a week ago. He had been punished for carrying out his duty earnestly. Such is the situation in our nation today. Dr Ashok had taken the allegations of Arvind Kejriwal to task, probing into the matter to settle the issue of the allegation being true or merely slanders.
On October 8, Dr Ashok Khemka asked for an inquiry into the alleged under-valuation of properties owned by Mr Vadra's companies in four districts of Haryana. He looked into the issue to verify if the stamp duties were duly paid or evaded by showing that the properties were lower market value.
Within three days he received a formal transfer order, on October 11. The very next day he wrote a letter seeking the documents related to the land bought by Mr Vadra, the son-in-law of the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi since 2005 to verify the true values of the lands.
October 15 was the last day of his office when he canceled the mutation of 3.5 acres sold by Mr Vadra to the real estate giant DLF in September this year for 58 crores.
Upon questioning Dr. Khemka if he sought to pursue the matters after Kejriwal's protests he said, "The confidence of the people must be restored in public offices. So if the allegations being leveled is wild, let it come out. And if the allegations are true, then certainly actions must be called for. Since these transactions pertain to four districts, I had ordered for an enquiry by virtue of the powers vested in me then, as Inspector General of Registration." affirming that he was merely serving the people within his power.
Dr Khekma has an impressive career but he had been transferred more than 40 times in a career of just 20 years which is 2 transfers per year on average. He said that he has been punished for being honest and condemned the serial transfers saying that they were "demoralising and dehumanising."
